100th Anniversary of Campbell’s Address

In September 1808, Thomas Campbell withdrew from the Scotch-Irish Presbyterian Church and began preaching in private homes in the area of Washington, Pennsylvania. In September 1809, the Christian Association published Thomas Campbell’s Declaration and Address in order to express the principles and objectives of the organization. In the winter of 1821, Walter Scott and Thomas Campbell affirmed the great Christian confession “Jesus is the Christ,” and Walter Scott published his five-finger exercise for effective evangelism. (Toulouse, p26, p31.)
